The one big problem facing Gabriel Martinelli at Arsenal despite four goals in two appearances

Gabriel Martinelli made another splash for Arsenal on Thursday evening when he bagged two impressive goals and assisted another in the club's 4-0 win over Standard Liege.

Arsenal made it two from two in the Europa League group stage this season as they cruised to an impressive victory with an array of fringe team players as the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dropped to the bench.

Martinelli, the £6m signing from Ituano who was scooped up by the Gunners this summer, opened the scoring with a fine header and added his second thanks to a fantastic right-footed finish.

Joe Willock also scored in the first half for Arsenal as they led 3-0 at the break, before Martinelli produced a delicate chip to provide the assist for Dani Ceballos' second-half effort.

Keown was quick to praise Martinelli post-match but he also identified a key problem in his way.

"Aubameyang is his problem. If you take away his goals this season, Arsenal would be 19th in the table," Keown told BT Sport. "But that’s a nice problem for the manager because Martinelli is knocking on the door."

Unai Emery may not have a selection headache yet between those two attackers, but elsewhere the strong performance in the Europa League will be leaving the Arsenal boss enjoying the options at his disposal, with Keown adding his thoughts on the club's potential moving forward.

"They’re growing in stature and character away from home but when you come back from an international break, you don’t want to be going away from home," Keown added.

"Sheffield United away, Chris Wilder will be looking at that and they will fancy their chances of getting a result.

"I want to see those Arsenal players forgetting about their international groups, you come back and it’s team Arsenal.

"Save a little bit in the tank for that important match when you come back.

"You have to manage your work levels and don’t come back injured, that’s the message.

"This is an important stage of the season and Arsenal can make it into the top-four if they are all switched on right until the end of the season."
