The one area Nottingham Forest still need to strengthen this summer

It’s difficult to say too much about Nottingham Forest’s transfer business so far this summer.

While they’ve signed seven players ahead of this week’s trip to Greece, there’s still much work to do if the Reds are to mount a serious challenge for promotion and one position in particular which needs work.

The arrival of Albert Adomah is a good one, especially when you think they’ve been able to get him on a free transfer given his promotion experience.

I said numerous times throughout Martin O’Neill’s tenure on Trentside that I thought the squad wasn’t quite good enough to sustain a challenge.

They may have flirted with the top six on occasions during the season, but overall, the quality just wasn’t quite there, and that’s something Sabri Lamouchi needed to address.

The three players from Portugal clearly have pedigree and look talented, but it remains to be seen how they settle in.

What is still missing and is a key area for the new manager to sort is up front.

Lewis Grabban scored 17 times last term, and could have had a few more – but Forest did rely on him a little too much, and he needs some support.

When he was out injured, it showed.

Forest have Karim Ansarifard who they rate, along with Tyler Walker and Daryl Murphy, both of whom may see their futures elsewhere, so there’s clearly a gap in the squad for another good frontman.

And given the fact their business so far has been very astute, maybe there will be some in the kitty for a centre forward.
