The Old Bookshop is going to serve up its popular Sunday roasts on Monday nights

There are few things more British than a Sunday roast.

Huge Yorkshire puddings, lashings of gravy covering perfectly-cooked meat, and crispy potatoes – what could be better?

As summer comes to an end and the nights draw in, a hearty Sunday roast is sure to become much more sought-after.

If you're a last-minute Sunday luncher, and miss out on booking one of the best places in Bristol for a Sunday roast, then The Old Bookshop may just have the answer for you.

In a break from tradition, the Bedminster pub is going to start serving roast dinners on Monday nights.

Since opening in 2011, the venue has developed into a unique and vibrant cafe/bar. It's Sunday roasts, served from noon until 6pm, have become legendary.

Earlier this year, the pub's team asked their online followers about potentially extending their sell-out roast service to the following day.

How to cook the perfect roast potatoes

The response was overwhelming and now The Old Bookshop is set to serve up a storm for customers who may have missed out the day before.

The Monday night roasts will start on September 16, and they've promised everything will be cooked fresh - no Sunday leftovers.

Between 5.30pm and 8.00pm, hungry customers will be able to relive their perfect Sunday before sitting down to The Old Bookshop's pub quiz.

Head chef Leon Bartlett told Bristol Live: "We will be serving a 24-hour red wine braised beef silverside, a garlic confit chicken leg, slow roast pork shoulder, and a chickpea loaf with beetroot jus.

"All roasts will come with the traditional trimmings of seasonal veg, roast potatoes, yorkies and pan gravy."
