The Office star Lucy Davis looks unrecognisable after taking up weightlifting in LA

The Office star Lucy Davis looked incredible in a new workout photo she shared on Instagram.

But she joked fans should “send help” after her personal trainer brother Jake put her through her paces.

Sharing a snap of herself lifting weights with her 794,000 followers, the actress wrote: “55lb single arm deadlifts. I can’t get up from my chair. Send help #weightlifting #strengthtraining #womenlifting @jakebodyupgrade.”

Lucy, who found fame as Dawn Tinsley in Ricky GervaisBBC Comedy The Office and is the daughter of comic Jasper Carrott, now lives in LA.

In the past few weeks, she has been sharing pictures and videos of herself working out as she embraces a healthier lifestyle.

One post from February – on the day she turned 49 – showed her lifting weights.

But even though it was her birthday, Lucy said brother Jake didn’t go easy on her with her workout.

She wrote: “Sister + birthday = less reps surely? I saw the evil glint in his clown-like eye as he casually made me lift 95 bloody pounds #revengeisgoingtobemine.”

Lucy has previously spoken out about how much younger brother Jake has helped her in recent years.

“He has picked me up in some of the hardest times in my life. I’m so lucky to have the family I have, and the fact that Jake lives 4 blocks from me makes me even luckier.

Some of the hard times Lucy is referring to include her battle with bulimia, which she has been open about.

She said this was at its worst when she was going through a divorce from fellow actor Owain Yeoman in 2011.

“In my 30s, I would have hated to look like this,” she told The Telegraph. “I probably wouldn’t have gone out much. I’d diet for a week and then eat all the food I hadn’t consumed in the previous seven days in a single day.

“This period of binge and purge was at its worst when my marriage came to an end.”

Lucy has never spoken about what caused the marriage split and says she “never will”.

Her illness led to her joining Overeaters Anonymous – and while these days she is much better, it remains a part of her life.

She shared: “I came to realise that all eating disorders aren’t essentially about what you look like. They’re about something much more fundamental.

“Like any addiction, I suppose. It’s not that you have a drink problem, for example, it’s that you have a problem, which is why you drink. For me, a cycle of throwing up and starving was my solution.”

Since moving to Hollywood in 2004, Lucy’s acting work has been sporadic until recent years.

She starred as aunt Hilda Spellman in The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina before landing a role in the 2017 Wonder Woman movie as Etta Candy – one of the most successful films that year.

Next she is set to star in upcoming US comedy series Amy from Amarillo, which will air on Disney.
