The Odyssey breaks Christopher Nolan’s record by grossing $1billion

  • Sir Christopher Nolan's epic adaptation of The Odyssey has grossed more than $1 billion (£819 million) globally, making it the highest-grossing film of his career.
  • The film has overtaken 2012's The Dark Knight Rises , which previously held Nolan's top box office record with $1.085 billion (£805.7 million).
  • Written, directed, and produced alongside his wife Dame Emma Thomas, the $250 million production stars Matt Damon as the ancient Greek king Odysseus.
  • The three-hour blockbuster has also become the highest-grossing career title for main cast members Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson.
  • Universal Pictures revealed that the film debuted at number one globally and maintained its top spot for two consecutive weekends both domestically and internationally.
