The number plates banned by DVLA for being too rude

More number plates have been banned by the DVLA because they are deemed too rude.

This comes after the agency released its new "69" plate designs.

The number has been available for new cars from the start of September in the UK, with 69 indicating the car was first registered between September 2019 and February next year.

However, the DVLA has banned certain letter and number combinations after deciding that they would be offensive to other drivers.

According to Metro.co.uk , the plates were all excluded for being interpreted as sexual, obscene, threatening or racist behaviour.

The report claimed an FOI released by the DVLA revealed a list of 800 number plates deemed too rude for the road.

Plates banned include combinations such as "BU69 DCK", "BJ69 PEE" and "DO69 CRP", reports the Express.

DVLA also axed "DO69 POO" and "HU69 NOB" as part of their mission to remove the inappropriate messages from UK vehicles.

Plates ending with the phrases SEX, BUM or ASS will also be automatically banned.

Other plates banned included number and letter combinations which created common messages and phrases.

DVLA banned "MU69 DER" from circulation and pulled the plug on the sale of "OR69 SMS".

Speaking to Metro at the time, a DVLA spokesperson said: “The vast majority of registration numbers are made available for general issue and for sale."

Further number plates which were banned earlier this year include "BE19 END" and "DO19 POO".

A total of 68 combinations were axed by the DVLA in 2018 after plates such as "BA68 TRD" and "SH68 GER" came into circulation.
