The NUFC youngster who has shown first-team players 'how to do it' in training

Matty Longstaff has been labelled as the 'best professional' Sean Longstaff has 'ever' worked with.

Now it might seem like a bias opinion given the pair are brothers but nonetheless Sean has revealed an important insight into the commitment of his younger brother to the best he can for Newcastle United.

Matty's future is in doubt at Newcastle with the 20-year-old still yet to be handed a new deal at the club despite the fact his current contract runs out next month.

Sean's insight into his brother's training methods at the club's Benton training base will only go to fuel the disbelief that the young midfielder may be allowed to walk away on a free transfer in the coming weeks.

Speaking to Epic Podcast, he said: "It's funny, at the start of the season there were a couple of teams who were umming and ahing about taking Matty on loan and when you look back now they're probably kicking themselves they didn't get him out the door.

"For me, Matty has been amazing - from the first day of pre-season when he came in, in China we had a run to do, and him and Kell Watts were the fittest in the whole group and he's been amazing.

"In training, he's quality, his attitude, he's probably shown a lot of the lads how to do it - especially at the start of the year when results weren't going our way, he came in and gave the whole city a lift when he scored against Manchester United.

"Off the pitch, the work he puts in - he eats better than everyone else, does more in the gym than anyone else - probably the best professional I've ever seen.

"He's someone I can look up to - I'm immensely proud of everything he has achieved, and I'm sure he will go onto to achieve much bigger and better things in the future."
