Nottingham restaurants, pubs and cafes are hoping to drum up trade through the government incentive Eat Out to Help Out.
Businesses, from coffee shops to fine dining establishments, have registered for the discount deal, designed to encourage customers to eat out on quieter days of the week and get the hospitality industry back on its feet after being devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Customers can get 50 percent off food and soft drinks up to £10 a head throughout August, from Monday to Wednesday. Alcohol is not included.
The offer applies to both adults and children and means a family of four can save £40 on a meal and drinks costing £80.
Customers don't need to do anything - the discount will simply be applied to the bill. Businesses claim the money back from the government.
The scheme, unveiled by chancellor Rishi Sunak earlier this month, starts on August 3 and runs until August 31.
Outlets which have already registered will start to receive window stickers this week, so customers can start looking out for the logo.
Registered outlets will be listed on a new online Restaurant Finder which will be available soon on Gov.uk
Amongst the participating businesses is Hart's Kitchen in Standard Hill.
General manager Adam Worthington said: "Hart’s Kitchen are delighted to offer this campaign to our diners. Customers are encouraged to reserve a table because of the reduced capacity, although walk-ins will be available for those wishing to dine alfresco in the courtyard, weather permitting.
"We have introduced a range of measures to keep our guests and team safe so, when our guests are ready, they can dine with us in confidence and feel assured their well-being is of utmost importance to us."
