The Nottingham neighbourhoods which have had more than 500 Covid-19 cases

Six neighbourhoods in Nottingham have now recorded more than 500 cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.

The two worst-affected areas in the city remain "University Park, Lenton Abbey" and "Arboretum, Forest & Trent University", which have both confirmed more than 1,000 infections.

There are also 14 areas in Nottingham which have now recorded 200 or more Covid cases.

But cases of coronavirus recorded each week have dropped again in Nottingham as the city and county fall into Tier 3 restrictions.

According to Nottingham City Council's latest Covid surveillance report, 1,516 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded between October 19 and October 25 - the latest available week.

This is a sharp drop from 2,031 cases recorded the week before (October 12) and 3,066 the week before that (October 5).

It is the lowest weekly number of cases in the city since the week starting September 21, when 293 cases were confirmed.

The data includes lab-confirmed positive cases of Covid-19 from pillar 1 (NHS hospital and Public Health England laboratories) and pillar 2 (swab testing for the wider population) of the Government's testing programme.

Between February 21 and October 29, the city has recorded 11,031 cases of Covid-19.

Tier 3 restrictions for the whole of Nottinghamshire means pubs and bars have to close unless they serve meals, while households are banned from mixing indoors or in private gardens and beer gardens.

Alcohol sales are banned in shops after 9pm and tattoo parlours, tanning and nail salons, and piercing services must close.

Despite the fall in weekly cases, hospital admissions for Covid-19 at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust at the Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital are now higher than they were during the height of the first wave of the pandemic.

And 49 people have died in Nottinghamshire hospitals in just a seven day period, according to health bosses.

The deaths were recorded in the week leading up to October 28 across all three hospital trusts in the county.

By comparison, only two people died throughout the months of July and August this year as a result of coronavirus.
