The Nottingham Forest truth behind the latest Evangelos Marinakis rumours

NottinghamshireLive understands there is nothing in fresh claims suggesting Nottingham Forest owner Evagelos Marinakis is on the verge of buying French club ESTAC Troyes.

Reports in France emerged earlier this month suggesting that the Reds owner was keen to expand his portfolio of clubs and held a desire to invest in France.

That report was dismissed out of hand by Forest, but that has done little to stop rumours in France, with claims this weekend that Marinakis can now check Troyes' books after having a letter of intention signed.

Troyes' current owner Daniel Masoni is believed to be looking in the region of €8m-€10m for the club, with suggestions from some publications a €12m offer has been lodged.

However, NottinghamshireLive understands there is still nothing in the reports at this time.

Marinakis has been in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19, before revealing earlier this week that he is now clear of the virus.

The Olympiacos owner has been in charge of Forest since buying the club in 2017.
