The Nottingham Forest transfers that could take place before deadline day

It has already been a busy summer in the transfer market for Nottingham Forest, with 12 signings so far and some high-profile departures.

More moves are still expected to be made, though - both incomings and outgoings - before the window closes.

The deadline for international business is 11pm next Monday, followed by a domestic-only window which will run until 5pm on Friday, October 16.

We’ve taken a look at some of the deals which could still happen in the coming days.

Heading out

With so many new arrivals, the club’s priority now is to shift some players out the exit door.

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi has said he wants a squad of no more than 23 players, plus three goalkeepers - and that means we are likely to see several departures.

Tobias Figueiredo

The Portuguese was a mainstay of the defence, alongside Joe Worral, in the second half of last season, in what was generally a solid partnership.

He has made a couple of uncharacteristic errors in his two league outings so far this term, though, and was not involved in Friday night’s defeat at Huddersfield Town.

It is understood Figueiredo would be in favour of a return to his homeland, for non-footballing reasons. And given the number of centre-backs on their books, Forest could be prepared to let him go.

Yohan Benalouane

Another central defender who may depart, if a move can be found - assuming Joe Worrall’s foot injury means he is not heading anywhere, amid interest from Burnley.

Benalouane has barely featured under Lamouchi, aside from coming in from the cold right at the end of last term.

Some way down the pecking order, it’s unlikely he will see much game time in the current campaign either.

Michael Hefele

Even more out of the picture than Benalouane - to the extent he wasn’t even included on the official list of squad numbers and is part of the group training separately to the first-team.

Finding prospective moves for the out-of-favour defensive duo, though, could be easier said than done, given they have not been in the shop window.

Yuri Ribeiro

Earlier in the summer rumours the left-back was about to join Olympiacos were dismissed by a source at the City Ground.

But since then, the picture may well have changed.

Speculation persists that the Greek club see him as a potential option for an area they desperately need to strengthen.

Meanwhile, Ribeiro has only played one of the three Championship games so far, and Forest signed full-back Nicholas Ioannou last week.

Carl Jenkinson/Tendayi Darikwa

Right-back is a department prime for cutting. The Reds currently have four.

Cyrus Christie is likely to be first-choice after arriving from Fulham, which leaves Jenkinson, Darikwa and Jordan Gabriel all fighting for a chance.

Expect at least one, although potentially two, of those three to leave.

Lamouchi had previously ruled out a loan move for Gabriel and put his faith in him at the start of this term, so it seems more likely his senior colleagues could be the ones to head elsewhere.

There has been talk of loan moves for Jenkinson and/or Darikwa, but how this picture pans out will depend on what offers come in.

Gaetan Bong and Tobias Figueiredo go for the ball during Nottingham Forest's home clash with Charlton Athletic (PA)

Gaetan Bong

That debut against Charlton Athletic last season could prove to be the January signing’s only appearance in the Garibaldi.

Another player no longer part of Lamouchi’s first-team plans and will be free to leave, if a move can be found.

Tiago Silva

The midfielder has not featured so far this season due to injury, but seems likely to move to Olympiacos before that changes.

There has been speculation about his future for much of the summer, and that has only intensified this week.

Reports in Greece claim he could arrive in Athens in the next few days.

Albert Adomah

Was allowed to join Cardiff City on loan for the second half of the last campaign, and despite featuring in pre-season, could be on the move again.

The winger is included in the group training separately and would be allowed to head elsewhere.

Zach Clough

It has been more than two years since the attacker played for Forest.

There was talk earlier in the summer he could move to Greece, but that seems to have gone quiet.

Similar to a number of those not part of the first-team set-up, the club would be ready to let him go, but getting set up with another deal is not always easy when you’re not playing.

Incomings

Twelve new faces have come through the door so far, but the Reds still are not finished there.

Cafu

The suggestion is the midfielder could switch to the City Ground from Olympiacos as part of a swap deal, as Silva heads the other way.

A winger

Lamouchi said last week he saw this as the final piece of the jigsaw - prior to the arrival of Ioannou.

“I think just one more to finish the squad,” he told NottinghamshireLive.

“I want one winger, to have one more option on the two sides, because it is really important to be competitive in that area.”

Having strengthened in several areas, this remains one department Forest could really do with bolstering.

Given they have yet to find the back of the net this term, bringing in someone with a bit of pace, creativity and an eye for goal would be most welcome.

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has ruled out allowing Jacob Murphy to leave on loan, with the Reds one of a number of clubs said to be keen.

But Kamil Grosicki’s name seems to be back in the picture - following interest from Forest in the past - with his future at West Bromwich Albion seemingly uncertain.
