The Nottingham Forest transfer news that could be fantastic for Bristol City

Have Nottingham Forest given up in the search for a striker?

The Reds have completed the signing of Stasbourg forward Nuno da Costa, but have also been linked with the likes of Burnley duo Nahki Wells and Matej Vydra, along with Crystal Palace's Connor Wickham.

Bristol City have also been linked with all three players, and are said to be close to agreeing a fee for Wells.

Yet the Robins targeted two strikers before the transfer window, so could well explore the possibility of bringing another new forward into the club.

If that is the case, some fresh Forest transfer news could well be good news for Bristol City.

The Telegraph's John Percy has reported that Forest are recalling striker Tyler Walker from his loan deal at Lincoln City.

Walker has netted 16 goals in League One for the Imps and is a highly-rated 23-year-old.

Whilst they are likely recalling Walker as cover, rather than to be their main striker, it suggests that the Reds have given up in the search of finding a new forward.

It could well hand the Robins a boost should they wish to bring in another forward in the dying days of the transfer window, as there will now be less competition for a striker.

Forest have rivalled the Robins for a number of forwards this season, including the likes of Eddie Nketiah and Rhain Brewster - players that both clubs ultimately failed to land.
