Confirmed: Key Nottingham Forest man agrees contract extension

Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The Reds centre back has put pen to paper on fresh terms at the City Ground, as reward for his impressive form this season, staying with the club until 2024.

The Nigel Doughty academy graduate has been a key figure in Sabri Lamouchi’s defence, playing every minute in all 32 league matches so far this season.

Reports last month claimed that Worrall was in talks with the club over a new deal at the City Ground, with his original deal due to expire in 2022, and that has now been signed.

Worrall’s form saw him linked with a move away from the City Ground, with Arsenal, Newcastle United, Sheffield United, West Ham United and Norwich City all credited with an interest.

The 23-year-old is closing in on 100 appearances for his boyhood club.

Forest have already seen Matty Cash and Ryan Yates commit their long-term futures to the club with new deals in recent months.
