Just weeks after the announcement that a stage musical version of the film “The Notebook” was headed for Broadway, the news of its world premiere venue arrived Wednesday. And it’s not in New York.

“The Notebook” musical, based on the 1996 Nicholas Sparks novel and the 2004 film, will have its world premiere at the Yard at Chicago Shakespeare this fall. The show is slated to run Sept. 22-Nov 8 at the Navy Pier venue.

The musical features a score by Ingrid Michaelson and a book by Bekah Brunstetter (“This Is Us”). It is directed by Michael Greif (“Dear Evan Hansen,” “Next to Normal,” FOX’s “Rent: Live”).

The cast for the musical has not yet been announced. Tickets will go on sale later this winter.

The 2004 film starred Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, James Garner and Gena Rowlands.
