The Department of Health has reported over 8,900 new coronavirus cases in Northern Ireland this week.
Over the last seven days, from August 2-8, a total of 8,974 cases of the virus have been detected.
Nine postcodes across the region recorded more than 200 new Covid-19 cases.
The 10 postcodes hardest hit by new cases this week are:
- BT48 - Ballymagrorty - 420 cases
- BT47 - Dungiven - 354 cases
- BT71 - Coalisland - 288 cases
- BT34 - Kilkeel and Warrenpoint - 270 cases
- BT12 - Ballymurphy and Donegall Road - 267 cases
- BT17 - Poleglass - 267 cases
- BT35 - Bessbrook - 220 cases
- BT14 - Ballysillan and Ligoniel - 208 cases
- BT23 - Comber - 208 cases
- BT45 - Magherafelt - 197 cases

In other news, there has been a dramatic reduction in the number of being people admitted to hospital with Covid-19 thanks to the vaccination programme, Northern Ireland’s chief scientific adviser has said.
Professor Ian Young said there are 22 hospitalisations for every 1,000 cases of the virus, down from 80 per 1,000 last December.
He was speaking during another surge of the virus in Northern Ireland on Monday when there were 245 Covid positive patients in hospital, with 41 in intensive care.
Prof Young said the benefits of the vaccination are “clear and indisputable”.
“Back in December last year, for every 1,000 cases of Covid-19 in NI, around 80 were admitted to hospital here,” he said.
“Now it’s in the region of 22 hospitalisations per 1,000 cases. That’s a dramatic reduction.
“Clearly, the vaccination programme has made a significant difference. Its benefits are indisputable.”
