What's in a number? For the last few months, a podcast from the Reach Data Unit has been finding the human stories behind statistics for the North of England.

Now, a special episode is taking a look behind the scenes, getting to the heart of what makes data so important.

So far, The North in Numbers has explored topics ranging from the rising problem of homelessness in Manchester to the boom in restaurants seen in Newcastle.

By speaking to local journalists, experts and those most affected, host Annie Gouk has been exploring the true impact of figures that particularly impact the north.
