The No. 8 was Danilo Gallinari’s magic number in career points milestone

The No. 8 aligned Saturday night for Danilo Gallinari as he reached a career milestone.

Gallinari, whose jersey number is eight, scored his 8,888th career point in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 114-108 win over the Golden State Warriors. Gallinari was also coincidentally born on August 8, 1988, per the Thunder’s Twitter account.

The No. 8 was Gallinari’s magic number, and he led the Thunder with 21 points on 54.5% shooting from the field. Gallinari also shot 4-of-6 from the 3-point line, grabbed five rebounds and dished three assists.

This season, Gallinari is second on the team in scoring behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Gallinari has averaged 19.1 points per game on 46.9% shooting. Including this season, Gallinari has ironically averaged 15.0 or more points a game for eight seasons, according to Basketball Reference.

With the Thunder at 4-5 through nine games, Gallinari has been key for the Thunder’s 3-point shooting. He’s shooting 47.5% from the 3-point line, and he’s ranked 16th in the league for the category.

The Thunder will play the Milwaukee Bucks at home Sunday night.
