Gavin Henson’s regional rugby career looks to have come to an end with his release by the Dragons.
The 37-year-old Wales and Lions star is one of a number of players confirmed as leaving the Gwent region.
Also departing are the Cardiff Blues-bound Hallam Amos, fly-half Jason Tovey, Zane Kirchner, Jarryd Sage, prop Dan Suter, wing George Gasson and scrum-half Rhodri Davies, who is heading for Cornish Pirates.
Tovey made 178 appearances during three spells for the Men of Gwent, accumulating 1,009 points, while back-three international Amos played 115 times.
Henson was limited to 18 outings, having had injury issues since arriving at Rodney Parade in 2017.
His career had previously taken in stints at Swansea, the Ospreys, Saracens, Toulon, Cardiff Blues, London Welsh, Bath and Bristol.
He won 33 caps for Wales, sharing in the Grand Slam triumphs of 2005 and 2008, while also figuring in one Test for the Lions.
It remains to be seen whether this is the end of his playing career.
The verdict on Gavin Henson's legacy: one of Welsh rugby's greatest players or a wasted talent?
Head coach Ceri Jones, said: “We thank all the players for their hard work and professionalism during their time at Dragons.
“They leave with our best wishes and we wish them well in their future endeavours.”
Retired back rower James Thomas, released centre Calvin Wellington and prop Gerard Ellis, who is now with Coventry, had already left the region during the course of the season.
