The nine places in Bristol with the fastest rising house prices

The growth of house prices has slowed considerably in Bristol much like the rest of the UK.

But this does not mean that some areas of the city are not seeing considerable rises and homeowners seeing a return on their investments.

According to real estate website Zoopla, the best performing postcode is BS5 which consists of Easton, Lawrence Hill and St George.

Prices have increased there by 2.72% or £6,345 on average in the last 12 months.

Now the average house price in the area is £239,663.

This is compared with Bristol overall, where house prices have on average risen by £2,912 (+0.89%).

St George in particular is seen as an up and coming area and has proven a draw for young families getting on the housing ladder.

Elsewhere, BS15 - Woodstock, Hanham and Kings Chase - as well as BS10 - Southmead, Henbury and Brentry - are seeing house prices rises of around 2.5%.

The wealthy area of Clifton is seeing the biggest price increase of around £12,682 on last year. But, when compared to house prices already in the area (average being around £552,484) this amounts to a 2.35% increase.

It comes as house prices in Bristol are set to increase more than London this year, according to a new report.

The city is predicted to see prices rise by 1.5 per cent in 2019, compared to 0.5 per cent in the capital and zero per cent in the South East, research by global property company JLL has found.

The average price of a two-bedroom apartment in Bristol increased by 1.8 per cent to £290,000 in 2018.

How to save for a mortgage deposit

Bristol's house price growth will outstrip the performance of the past 12 months, according to the Find the Gap report, which predicts an increase of 2.8 per cent a year compared to UK-wide growth of 2.2 per cent.

The cost of renting in Bristol is also predicted to rise.
