The nine Liverpool players missing through injury, suspension or Covid vs Chelsea

Liverpool will be without nine first team players for their Premier League title race clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge today.

The Reds confirmed three new players had tested positive for Covid and will miss the trip, along with Jurgen Klopp.

In Klopp's absence on the touchline, assistant manager Pep Lijnders will be in charge of Liverpool in this vital match at the top of the table.

Thiago is missing with a hip injury he has picked up while Alisson, Roberto Firmino and Joel Matip are all absent with Covid.

The Boxing Day postponement against Leeds United means Andy Robertson misses out through suspension after picking up a red card in the draw at Tottenham.

Attackers Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi both miss out with injuries, making the Reds depleted in the last third of the pitch.

Harvey Elliott is still absent after his ankle dislocation, but the good news is that the youngster has returned to non-contact training with a view to re-joining full training in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile Nat Phillips is still sidelined after picking up an injury playing in Liverpool's win over Milan in early December.
