The nine Covid blackspots in Leeds where infection rates are soaring

Coronavirus cases are continuing to soar across Leeds with some places recording higher than the average national rates.

The latest data shows Boston Spa & Bramham is the worst area affected with coronavirus with a rate of 2,025 per 100,000 people - the UK’s Covid rate is 1,253.8.

Cases in the area increased to 145 cases after 50 new cases were confirmed in the area - a 52.6 per cent rise.

Colton, Austhorpe & Whitkirk, Sherburn in Elmet & South Milford, and Cookridge & Holt Park were among the worst affected areas in the city.

The data which is published on the government’s website shows the seven-day rolling rate by date of specimen as of 26 December 2021.

  • Burley currently has a rate of 1,637.3 - 147 cases were recorded in the seven days up to December 26, this is up by 46 cases the previous week (45%)

  • Chapel Allerton North has a rate of 1,889.8, after recording 129 cases were recorded in the seven days up to December 26, up by 60 cases the previous week (87%)

  • Horsforth East has a rate of 1,655.4, 132 cases were recorded in the seven days up to December 26, up by 59 cases the previous week (80.8%)

  • Horsforth South & Rawdon has a rate of 1,669.2, 142 cases were recorded in the seven days up to December 26, up by 21 cases the previous week (17.4%)

  • Cookridge & Holt Park has a rate of 1,657.7, 92 cases were recorded in the seven days up to December 26, up by 55 cases the previous week (148.6%)

  • Leeds Dock, Hunslet & Stourton, has a rate of 1,620.7, 140 cases were recorded in the seven days up to December 26, up by 73 cases the previous week (109 %)

  • Colton, Austhorpe & Whitkirk, has a rate of 1,975.0 - 106 cases were recorded in the seven days up to December 26, up by 58 cases the previous week (120.8%)

  • Sherburn in Elmet & South Milford has a rate of 1,701.9, - 186 cases were recorded in the seven days up to December 26, up by 83 cases the previous week (80.6%)

  • Boston Spa & Bramham has a rate of 2,025.1, 145 cases were recorded in the seven days up to December 26, up by 50 cases the previous week (52.6%)
