The nightmare scenario facing Chelsea after Bayern Munich Champions League draw

Chelsea will take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16 after the draw was made in Nyon this morning.

After squeezing through into the knockout stages of the competition by coming second in Group H, the Blues will be hoping for better form when they take on the German champions.

Of course, the tie will bring back some strong memories for Frank Lampard and the Blues, having clinched the Champions League in the 2012 final.

It has also been confirmed when the two teams will do battle over two legs towards the beginning of 2020.

Chelsea 'not taking enough chances' says Frank Lampard

The first leg will be at Stamford Bridge on February 25, with the second leg at the Allianz Arena in Munich on March 18.

It means that the new winter break is unlikely to affect the Blues too much, with the dates for the Premier League breaks set for either 8 or 15 February.

For the Champions League matches, there could be some difficult moments for the Blues either side, however.

Ahead of the first leg, Chelsea are set to play Tottenham Hotspur, with the challenge for the top four really picking up after Chelsea's dip in form.

After that match, Lampard's side are due to take on Bournemouth away at the Vitality Stadium, with the Cherries having just beaten the Blues 1-0.

There are a couple of tricky ties either side of the second leg as well, with Lampard's team having to make the trip to Aston Villa the weekend before.

Then, just a few days after the second match against Bayern, Chelsea will have to welcome Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in another big game for the Blues.

The exact dates of the Premier League matches are yet to be announced, with the confirmation set to come this week and no later than 20 December.

But for Chelsea there will be some difficult games either side of those big Bayern Munich knockout matches.
