Arsenal were never in this season's Premier League title race, although they could have a big say as to when Liverpool are finally crowned champions.
In the Reds' final game before the season was suspended, they came from behind to beat Bournemouth at Anfield - a big result for Jurgen Klopp's side following back-to-back losses at the hands of Watford and Chelsea.
That result meant Liverpool required three more wins to clinch a first-ever Premier League title and a first league title in any format in 30 years.
However, the magic number was reduced to two just over 24 hours later.
This is because Manchester City - the only team who can still mathematically catch the Merseyside giants - were beaten 2-0 by rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Goals in either half from Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay inflicted a seventh league defeat on the defending champions this season and pushed Liverpool closer to the title.
There is a scenario which could see Klopp's side crowned champions of England before they take to the pitch against bitter rivals Everton at Goodison Park.
And that's where the Gunners and Mikel Arteta could play a big role.
It's Arteta's first return to the Etihad Stadium on June 17 and should he claim all three points over his former mentor Pep Guardiola then Liverpool would require just one more win from their final nine games to clinch the title.
This scenario is too much for one Arsenal fan in particular to handle.

With that said, victory at the Etihad won't be easy especially as Guardiola has previously joked that he will beat his former assistant coach.
"It is a good argument -- why not?" Guardiola said before Arteta was appointed at the Emirates Stadium. "It is uncomfortable for me. It is a question for Mikel, I am not in his brain. We talk about it a little bit but his feelings are his feelings.
"If he decides to move I'll wish him all the best, for him, his family and for his professional future.
"I will beat him -- that's a joke!".
