Nicolas Pepe was handed his first Premier League start by Unai Emery on Saturday.
After making a club-record £72million move from Lille during the summer transfer window, there is much excitement around the Ivorian frontman.
Pepe showed glimpses of his quality in two substitute appearances for the Gunners in the opening two Premier League outings, but was finally unleashed from the start by Emery at Anfield.
And the 24-year-old proved that the excitement around him was not misplaced.
Pepe made a number of good runs into Liverpool territory during a frenetic first half and perhaps should have opened the scoring when breaking from a Reds corner and stepping inside Andy Robertson.
His effort at the end of it was tame though, and Adrian easily saved.
But there was something else that Pepe did in the first half, that will have delighted the Arsenal fans, and worried the Liverpool supporters and in particular Virgil van Dijk.
In making one of his runs at the Liverpool back-line, Pepe did something that had not been done since March 2018.
According to Opta stats, the Ivorian was the first player to successfully dribble past the Dutch defender in his last 50 Premier League appearances.
The last player to do so was Mikel Merino in 2018.
If Pepe can do more of that, and find the back of the net, the Gunners supporters will love him.
