The NFL world reacts to the Patriots releasing Antonio Brown

The Antonio Brown era in New England lasted just a single game. The superstar wide receiver, who is facing several allegations of sexual assault and misconduct, was released by the Patriots on Friday.

The move comes just hours after Bill Belichick walked out of a press conference after being bombarded by questions about the latest allegations against his wide receiver. On Thursday, an artist who accused Brown of sexual harassment contacted the NFL after receiving “threatening” messages from Brown, according to a Sports Illustrated report.

The news broke just days after NFL investigators spent a full day interviewing Britney Taylor, who accused Brown of rape and sexual assault in a civil lawsuit filed in Florida earlier this month. The Patriots signed Brown days before the lawsuit was filed.

Brown responded to his release on Twitter by thanking the Patriots for the opportunity to play.

Brown’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, tweeted the Brown hopes to find a new team soon.

The Boston Globe reported on Thursday that Brown had been dropped as a Nike athlete.
