The Neymar to Barcelona link that could be great news for Chelsea

The transfer saga surrounding Neymar looks set to be one of football's biggest talking points this summer.

The Brazilian forward looks set to bring an end to his two-year stint with Paris Saint-Germain as he targets a move to one of Europe's biggest clubs.

Plenty of clubs have been credited with an interest in the player, but it looks to have boiled down to two familiar foes who will fight it out for his signature.

Of course we're talking about Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Madrid are undergoing a dramatic overhaul this summer as they look to get fans back onside following a disastrous season at the Bernabeu, and what better way to do that than by bringing one of football's biggest names to the club.

Barcelona are also set for a big summer, and look like favourites to bring the 27-year-old back to the club.

Football fans all over the world will be keeping an eye on this one, but one group of supporters who will be watching it closely will be the followers of Chelsea.

The Blues have already lost Eden Hazard this summer, and according to reports last week, Chelsea rejected a bid in the region of £35million for Willian.

That interest now seems to have died down with the Catalan giants determined to pip their Spanish rivals to the signing of Neymar.

Of course it remains to be seen whether Barcelona will revisit their interest in Willian, but the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge will certainly be watching on in the hope that a deal to bring the PSG forward back to the Nou Camp can be agreed; simultaneously forgetting all about the Chelsea man.

With a transfer ban hanging over their heads, the prospect of losing another star man is simply unthinkable for the Blues.

The loss of Hazard is a massive blow, but with Calum Hudson-Odoi, Willian and Pedro all competent options on the flanks, the consensus will be that Chelsea may just get by in the short-term.

However if Willian was also to leave it would leave the Blues painfully short of experienced options.
