'The next Zaha' - Nottingham Forest linked with £5m-rated forward

Darragh MacAnthony hinted earlier this month that Nottingham Forest were in talks with one of his players.

Rumours were abound that it was £10m-rated Ivan Toney before the Peterborough United owner poured cool water on those links, but could it have been Toney’s strike partner at London Road?

Football Insider claim Forest, who agreed a deal for Lyle Taylor over the weekend, are in the hunt for Siriki Dembele along with a host of other top flight and Championship clubs.

Dubbed the next ‘Wilfried Zaha’, Dembele has already been attracting interest from West Brom, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Brentford, with Forest now reportedly throwing their hat into the ring.

Dembele netted six times in 30 appearances last term for Darren Ferguson’s men, after moving from the wing to play in a more central role.

“He is not the player no,” MacAnthony responded when asked a question on Twitter if Forest had been in contact over Toney, with some suggesting discussions could have centered on another of the Posh's ever-growing talent pool.

Dembele was born in the Ivory Coast, before moving to Scotland where he began his career with Dundee United.

After his youth spell at Dundee, he moved to Ayr United and then joined the Nike Academy – he then had trials with Barnsley and Huddersfield before signing a one-year deal at Grimsby Town.

Having submitted a transfer request at Blundell Park after a year on the Lincolnshire coast, he signed a three-year deal with Posh where he’s impressed observers during his first season in the EFL attracting admiring glances.

Boss Sabri Lamouchi has already signed Jack Colback, Tyler Blackett and striker Taylor to his ranks ahead of the new season, has been heavily linked with a move for Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy and Liverpool's Sheyi Ojo, with the Frenchman keen to add more pace to his side.
