‘The next six weeks are pivotal’- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future will be clearer after tough run

After just two wins in the last six games, the pressure has begun to build on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, the next six games for Manchester United will not only give an outlook on what the season holds for the club but will also give an indication of Solskjaer's future at Old Trafford.

Leicester (A), Atalanta (H), Liverpool (H), Tottenham (A), Atalanta (A), followed by a Manchester derby are all to come for United in the next five weeks.

In the latest United on my Mind Facebook Live, United fan brand editor Mike Parrott and United fan brand writer Casey Evans discussed the fallout from the disappointing draw against Everton, including what it means for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

MP : “I think he deserves a bit more time and I may get criticised by some for saying that but I’d still give him the month of October. We haven’t had the best start especially when we’ve had one of the easier runs, but I think the real competition starts now.”

CE : “The fact Ole says we can’t defend counter-attacks worries me for Atalanta matches because that is their game plan and they’re very good at doing it.”

“Classically, we’ve done better in the bigger matches even when we’ve been in poor form. It’s a weird one, obviously, we are talking complete speculation as the club gave Solskjaer a contract at the start of the season and at the moment there’s complete trust in the manager.”

“Solskjaer has been good for United. In terms of the culture at United, he’s brought world-class players, he’s improved the team and he’s brought in some youngsters.”

“I think what the pundits have been meaning to say is that the problem is United have no clear game plan in scoring four goals against a team we should be scoring four goals against- is the best way to put it.”

“Long term, it’ll be interesting to see because Solskjaer has got us to where we are now - a team that’s on the doorstep of being competitive, it’s whether he’s the manager that can do that for us. It’s whether he can do that for the club.”

“We had what was considered an easier run up until the Everton game. Yes, we are near the top of the league, but that's because we haven’t played the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool- and that’s all to come.”

“The next month will be big. It's an interesting run-in.”

MP : “The next six to eight weeks are going to be very pivotal. It feels like that time just before Louis Van Gaal went on that horrible run and the writing was on the wall. But we all know Ole has this crazy superpower, that when he’s on the hot-seat- he’ll pull out a win.”
