'The next Fabregas' - Arsenal fans delight in Charlie Patino goal for the Under-23s vs Chelsea

Charlie Patino scored against Chelsea under-23s on just his second start for Arsenal under-23s.

The 17-year-old midfielder is regarded as one of the biggest prospects at the club right now and his performances for the under-18s saw him rewarded with his debut for the under-23s last month.

Patino featured in the team alongside Tim Akinola, Ben Cottrell and Reiss Nelson, the latter of whom scored an excellent free-kick in the first half to equalise for the Gunners.

The clash at Meadow Park, home of Boreham Wood FC, saw the London rivals play out a 2-2 draw after Nelson cancelled out Thierno Ballo's opener, before Marcel Lewis scored a second and Patino's deflected effort earned Arsenal a point after the break.

Here, football.london takes a look at some of the responses to Patino's goal in just his second appearance for the under-23s.

Patino signed his first professional contract in October 2020 and has played for a higher age group every season for Arsenal as well as England.

At the age of 14 he captained England under-16s against Spain and also made his debut for Arsenal under-18s against Chelsea in the same year.

As he looks to establish himself in the under-23s, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Patino, whose quick rise up the ranks has seen him compared to Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere, involved in the first team squad next season.
