The Newcastle United duo who could miss out vs Tottenham as Steve Bruce makes Ryan Fraser claim

Jose Mourinho's Tottenham side will be looking to make it four successive wins in all competitions when Newcastle United travel to the capital on Sunday afternoon.

Bouncing back from the awful 1-0 defeat against Everton on the opening weekend of the season with wins over Lokomotiv Plovdiv, Southampton and Shkendija, Spurs will be looking to get the better of the Magpies after falling to a shock loss on home soil 13 months ago.

Steve Bruce's side come into the game on the back of a stunning 7-0 win over Morecambe in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening having been well beaten by Brighton & Hove Albion in their previous league game.

Both Jamal Lewis and Allan Saint-Maximin had to be replaced during the poor showing at St James' Park and the manager has admitted he is not sure yet if they will take to the pitch on Sunday in the capital.

“They’re the biggest doubts. Lewis has got an awful eye injury. It’s a bad cut so we’re going to see how he is," he said in his pre-match press conference, as reported by Newcastle Chronicle.

"Allan has a slightly twisted ankle, so we’ll see how he is too. It’s a bit early yet for me to make the call, but they’re the main two along with Ciaran [Clark].

"He hurt his thigh the other night and I don’t think he’ll make it."

Ryan Fraser, who was linked with Tottenham in the summer, replaced Saint-Maximin last Sunday against Brighton and came on for 45 minutes at Morecambe in midweek.

Only starting one game for the Magpies since his Bournemouth exit, Bruce has admitted that he is taking it careful with the winger at present.

"We've purposely left him out. It's still early, and I think we need to be careful with him," he added.

"I'm a bit guarded with him because he's about pace & being explosive.

"The minutes he has under his belt will have helped him"
