The New York Yankees added a fog machine to the clubhouse

The Yankees have endured a rough start to the season after several key players went down with injuries, but the Bombers punished Red Sox ace Chris Sale in a lopsided win on Tuesday and came from behind with a four-run 7th inning to edge Boston 5-3 the following night.

After the game, the 8-9 Yankees celebrated a two-game series sweep in the clubhouse with the aid of a fog machine and strobe lights. According to Yankees vet Brett Gardner, no one knows who installed a fog machine for the Yankees, but the team has used it after big wins.

Via ESPN:

“It came in the form of a foggy mist generated by a fog machine that has made an appearance or two this season. To a man, players contend they have no idea who put it there, how it got there or why it’s even there.

‘I don’t know that it’s a player,’ veteran outfielder Brett Gardner said, ‘but I’m not sure….. The idea was to play [the fog] after big games.'”

C.C. Sabathia made an appearance on ESPN’s First Take on Thursday and defended the Yankees’ celebration after Max Kellerman argued that it went against the “Yankee way.”

“It is the Yankee way. It’s 2019. This is a new group of guys. It’s a new league, it’s a different time. We just want to have fun and celebrate literally every win.”
