The new Wales injury bulletin on Dan Biggar, Jonathan Davies and George North

Wales have received  a huge injury boost ahead of their Rugby World Cup quarter-final against France as Dan Biggar and George North returned to training today.

The outlook is also positive for centre Jonathan Davies, who is being phased back into training after suffering a worrying knee injury against Fiji last week.

Biggar received his second head knock in two matches as he collided with team-mate Liam Williams during the win over Fiji six days ago.

It left him lying on the turf but he did return to his feet and jog off, though medics removed him from the field of play immediately, without needing to conduct a head injury assessment.

He has been seen by an independent specialist in the last week, as per World Rugby regulations, and has satisfied medics as he recovers from the blow.

After the game against Uruguay, that Biggar sat out, Wales boss Warren Gatland was optimistic of having all 31 players fit for training this week.

And it appears Biggar, Davies and North, who has had a sore ankle, are on course to be ready to face France this Sunday in Oita.

“We’re in a great position. The boys integrated back into training today,” said attack coach Stephen Jones.

“The medical team have done a fantastic job on our players. From a squad selection point of view, it’s brilliant.

“Dan is good to go. He is training with us today, which is fantastic.”

Jones was also optimistic over the condition of Davies, who injured his knee in the win over Fiji.

Fears were alleviated late last week when scans on the injured limb came back clear and has is being eased back into training ahead of the French clash.

“I am not too sure about Jon’s medical condition, but from a coach’s perspective, I am just glad he is back training and healthy,” said Jones.

“You want a full complement. You look at those players, huge experience, great skillset, Jon has a physical threat and you saw what he did with that last linebreak just before he got injured. Wonderful offload as well.

“It’s vital we have everyone fit and healthy.”
