The new Thai in town - our verdict on Rosa's Thai Cafe in Trinity Leeds

Taking over the space at the top of Trinity Leeds formerly used by Cielo Blanco, Rosa's Thai Cafe is the new kid on the block in Leeds' busiest shopping centre.

As soon as we arrived we felt very relaxed, and with good reason. It is very nicely decked out inside, and the vibe is self-described as a meeting between modern Bangkok and "casual British design".

Leeds is crammed with high-quality Thai restaurants these days, and the menu covers all of the dishes that you would expect to see and a few more.

We started off by sharing starters, I had crispy prawns and my partner had spring rolls - both came with a really nice sweet chilli sauce and the portion sizes were sizeable so it was a solid start all-round.

For the mains I went off-piste slightly - I normally either have a curry or some variant of a Pad dish when I head out for Thai food, but tried out Rosa's Fried Rice here.

It looked visually impressive as it had been rounded off into a perfect bowl shape and had tofu and vegetables inside.

The food was nice enough but perhaps could have done with a bit more of a kick to it, and my partner felt the same about her dish, so maybe we'll have to go for something different next time.

There was no doubting the dessert though - waffle, ice cream and chocolate sauce certainly can't be described as a Thai classic, but it was absolutely delicious.

We had a nice meal and while I wasn't blown away, it is early days for Rosa's Thai Cafe and I'm sure they'll grow into it.

If you go I'd copy us and have the spring rolls and crispy prawns to start, they were great!
