The new stadium trend Everton are bucking and why Marco Silva and Marcel Brands are set for exciting transfer window finale

Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman has given a glowing verdict on the Blues' business in the transfer market so far this summer.

With several signings already in the bag - and the prospect of more to come - Osman is impressed and has high hopes for the coming season.

And he has praised the teamwork of Marco Silva and Marcel Brands for their recruitment success.

Osman said: “I think it's been a good transfer window for Everton.

“For the last three windows since Marcel and Marco Silva got together, we have done very good business in the transfer market.

“Bringing in Andre Gomes early was smart business and Fabian Delph is another marquee signing. We’ve also made good money on players leaving the club.

“Andre played an important role last season, to secure his services and give him a good pre-season was very important.

“He’s not really had that opportunity through injuries, so he’s ready to go.”

Blues favourite Osman has highlighted the fact that spending has not slowed down despite progress being made on plans for a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

And he is confident Silva's side can kick on in the manager's second season in charge.

Speaking to eToro, Osman said: “It’s an important time and there is a buzz around the training ground.

“You want to strengthen, especially when you’re linked with really good players from other clubs.

“You can see what the club is trying to achieve when you’re linked with top players from top clubs so it does become exciting in that week before the transfer deadline.

"I think you've always got to strive to be at the very top. Everton have invested an awful lot of money in the team and are still pushing ahead with the new stadium.

“What tends to happen when you start talking about new stadiums is the investment in the squad dies off a little bit.

“That's certainly not the case at Everton at the moment. Money has been heavily invested and the club is looking in a very good position.”
