The new Sky Fibre advert

Sky Fibre ad

What would it take to make you sign up to the eternal contractual nightmare that is Sky Broadband? Faster internet? An end to “buffering”, the number one cause of relationship breakdowns and ruiner of “nice nights in”? Actual superheroes telling you to do it? Well, the new Sky Fibre advert has all three, in a probably-quite-expensive movie tie-in with X-Men: Apocalypse.

In the promo, a random girl, who seems very relaxed around people with superpowers, is trying to watch a film, but her fellow hotel guests – Storm, Nightcrawler, Beast and Cyclops - are slowing down the broadband by playing games, streaming music and presumably firing off angry emails to their agents, mentioning things like “my craft” and “humiliating myself by having to flog internet packages on telly”. Enter Quicksilver who uses his incredible speed to, er, smell the girl’s hair on the sly, and buy a Sky Fibre box.

The soundtrack is Redbone’s Come And Get Your Love – yep, that song from Guardians Of The Galaxy. Is this a spoiler, telling us that Peter Quill’s Star-Lord will cross over into the X-Men universe, like in the comics? Quick, Google the fan theories! Then wait patiently for the videos to load.
