The new Pep Guardiola record Liverpool can set against Man City in Community Shield

Liverpool play Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday.

It is the 22nd time the Reds have played in the match and only Manchester United have played in more.

Normally the game is seen as little more than a glorified friendly but this time around there will be a huge focus and all eyes on how Jurgen Klopp's men do battle with Pep Guardiola's side.

It is a chance for either side to get one over on each other and there will be many interested parties seeing how both get on after the way last season played out with Liverpool running City so close in the Premier League before winning the European Cup.

Should Liverpool claim victory in the final it will not only be a fantastic achievement but it will also mean Guardiola's record against the Reds is the worst out of any team he has faced in his managerial career.

The Man City boss has lost four of his eight meetings with Liverpool in all competitions (W2 D2) – against no side has he lost more in his career so far (also 4 vs Chelsea and Real Madrid).

That's a career that has seen him face some of the best teams in Europe in La Liga and the Bundesliga so it's incredible that Liverpool have a chance to become the outright team that Guardiola cannot beat.
