The future of Christian Eriksen remains up in the air.
The Danish playmaker openly admitted during the summer that he was looking for a new challenge elsewhere following six years at Tottenham.
However, football.london understands there were no bids for him, with the player's contract due to expire next summer, meaning he can leave the north London club on a free.
Many clubs have been credited with an interest in him, with Real Madrid the most heavily linked.
However, Manchester United have also been linked with a move and with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino tipped to take over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if the Norwegian is sacked, it could see the pair team up once again.
Eriksen looks unlikely to pen a new deal with Tottenham, despite the change in manager in N17, with a move away likely. Whether he will complete a transfer in January, or stay and move on for free in the summer remains to be seen, however.
But if Manchester United are a likely destination, a change in transfer strategy from the Red Devils could impact Tottenham and Eriksen.
According to our friends at the Manchester Evening News, United are planning to change the way they do business in the transfer window, starting with this January.
Deals for Harry Maguire incoming and Romelu Lukaku outgoing did not happen until late in the window in the summer, and that is something the club want to change moving forward.
Speaking about the next summer transfer window, Solskjaer said: "We do have a clear picture of what the squad is going to look like in June/July."
And if United have a clear idea of the business they plan to get done in the summer, it stands to reason that any January transfer moves will be mapped out and in the pipeline already too.
Whether Eriksen leaves in January or next summer, if he's on Manchester United's wishlist their plans for a move will already be taking shape.
