The new Man Utd 16-year-old who's the son of a famous Wales football star

Charlie Savage, son of former Wales football star Robbie Savage, is one of Manchester United's intake of first-year scholars.

The 16-year-old midfielder is among 11 new faces that will step up to the club's under-18 squad for the 2019-20 season and will be part of Neil Ryan's youth team.

Ex-Derby midfielder Robbie has expressed his pride.

He posted on Twitter: "So proud of @charliesavage48 starting as a 1st year scholar at the biggest club in the world - dedication, desire and sacrifices to get to this point! Now the hard work starts."

Robbie started his career as a trainee at United.

He won the FA Youth Cup and was part of the famous Class of '92 that featured David Beckham, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes, but did not make a first-team appearance and moved to Crewe in 1994.

Savage went on to play for Leicester City, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and Derby. He also won 39 caps for Wales.
