We’ve seen the return of scrunchies, satin skirts and chunky Buffalo trainers, but if there’s one thing that transports us instantly back to the 90s, it’s re-runs of Friends.
From Channel 4 marathons to all-day Netflix viewing, it’s easy to hang out with Rachel, Ross, Joey, Chandler, Monica and Phoebe at a click of a button.
But now you can actually get inside one of the famous sets – well, sort of. LEGO has released a special edition Central Perk set to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary (we know, we feel old too).
The set is packed from authentic details that die-hard fans will spot right away, such as that famous couch in the aptly named Central Perk. As well as the show’s famous six, there’s also a Lego minifigure of Gunther, the peroxide blonde coffee shop manager.
As well as Central Perk’s normal references (coffee machine, cookies and the stage where Pheebs so passionately sang Smelly Cat), there’s also a window complete with the coffee shop’s logo and TV studio light rigs with translucent light-style elements, so you’ll really feel like you’re building the set.
It’s an intricate piece with more than a thousand LEGO elements, so you may need a little help from your own pals to complete it – while catching a couple of episodes, natch.
It came about after Friends super-fan Aymeric Fievet submitted his idea to LEGO Ideas, which gives fans the chance to have their brick-based dream brought to life, and gives them a share of the profits.
