The new foodie app to download now

If, like us, you enjoy scouring the shelves of delis, corner shops and butchers for the smug satisfaction of discovering something the rest of London hasn’t, we’ve got just the app for you.

Launching 14 February, Delli, the brainchild of Depop, Retrosuperfuture and Pig magazine founder Simon Beckerman, is the new social media-cum-ecommerce start-up showcasing and selling the produce of small, artisanal food and drink businesses from across London.

According to Delli’s head of brand, Natalie Lee Joe, the concept was born when Beckerman began ‘seeing all of the small businesses pop up during lockdowns. People began starting side hustles and taking their hobbies to the next level, and he thought it would be really great to be able to support all of these small, independent, interesting food makers.’ Like Depop, Lee Joe says, the app aims to cultivate a community of like-minded shoppers passionate about sustainability and the provenance of what they eat.

The image-led app offers a range of treats from lip-tingling chilli sauce to foolproof DIY dumpling kits and squidgy pandan sandos by the likes of My Neighbours The Dumplings, Ancestrel wines, Lil Wong Bakes, Tarla bakehouse and Kold Sauce. What’s more, fans of a brand can follow businesses for updates on new drops. A word to the wise: don’t scroll hungry.
