The new club record Liverpool can set against Cardiff - and the threat they must be wary of

Liverpool travel to Cardiff on Sunday afternoon looking to keep the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Jurgen Klopp's side will be hoping they make it six league wins in a row by adding the Bluebirds to their recent scalps of Tottenham, Southampton and Chelsea.

The Reds are top on 85 points after 34 games and Pep Guardiola's side are two points behind with a game in hand so it's vital they keep the pressure on as the defending champions get set to play Tottenham and Manchester United after being knocked out of the Champions League by Spurs in a dramatic game on Wednesday night.

The omens look good for Liverpool to come away from the Cardiff City Stadium with all three points as Neil Warnock's side have lost their three Premier League meetings with Liverpool, conceding 13 goals.

The Bluebirds have never lost more top-flight matches in a row versus the Reds and that is the first record Klopp's men can look to set come 4pm.

Cardiff have picked up just two points from their 22 Premier League games against the six ever-present sides in the competition (W0 D2 L20), losing their last 18 in a row against Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Man Utd and Spurs.

Liverpool have also won each of their last nine Premier League matches against newly promoted sides, scoring 27 goals and conceding just three.

The Reds have never won 10 successive such matches in the competition and that is the next achievement they can put down should they come away with a victory this weekend.

However, they must be wary of the home form Cardiff midfielder Victor Camarasa is just hitting.

The Spaniard has scored on goal in each of his last two home Premier League games, as many as he had in his first 12 at the Cardiff City Stadium in the competition.
