The Nest series 2 - will there be more episodes of gripping BBC drama?

The Nest has definitely lived up the hype that built before its much publicised debut on the BBC and now fans of the drama are desperate for more.

If you're not familiar with the new series, The Nest, which features Martin Compston and Sophie Rundle in its leading roles, is all about a couple who are desperate for a child enter into an agreement with a teenage girl. But can they trust her?

With only one embryo left, can Dan and Emily trust a teenage girl they barely know with their last chance to have a family?

No spoilers here but millions have been gripped over the past five weeks as the plot has taken many twists and turns, with a shock murder, a surprise romance and some bombshell revelations taking everyone by surprise.

Series 1 concluded on Monday night but will there be more?

Well - there could well be as The Nest's writer, Nicole Taylor has said the story "won't be tied up in a bow'' at the end.

ChronicleLive contacted the BBC to ask if there was going to be another series, but at the time of writing they hadn't responded.

Viewers definitely want more, with many dubbing The Nest the drama of the year so far. One tweeted: "I would love @BBCOne to do a second series of #TheNest.," and another added: "#thenest is my favourite programme as well as liar. I hope there will be series 2 or something."
