The Neil Lennon Celtic rebuild theory as Barry Ferguson asserts 'you sign for a manager'

Rangers hero Barry Ferguson has reiterated his feeling that Neil Lennon could remain at Celtic next season following the pre-contract signing of Liam Shaw.

Ferguson has previously admitted Lennon's words make him believe the Irishman will still be in charge next term despite missing out on the 10 In A Row dream.

With chief executive Peter Lawwell stepping down in the summer to be replaced by Dominic McKay, Ferguson does expect structural changes in the coming months.

However, the recent upturn in results coupled with the deal in place to sign Shaw from Sheffield Wednesday make him believe Lennon will be gaffer next term.

The Record Sport columnist said on Go Radio: "I think we all know there is going to be a full rebuild, we all get that, with the loan players going back and other players sold I would suspect.

"Obviously that started in the January window with a couple leaving, but I just get that vibe from Neil Lennon that he is the one who is going to be doing the rebuild.

"I hear him saying he is interested in different players, they've already signed somebody on a pre-contract.

"I would not sign for a club if I didn't know who was the manager. What is the point?

"There is no doubt Celtic are a massive club but you are signing for a manager."
