The neighbourhoods in and around Bristol with no registered coronavirus deaths

A data map has revealed the areas in and around Bristol with the most and fewest registered coronavirus deaths.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) broke down the the number of deaths in small areas across the country, including dozens in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

The latest ONS figures are for deaths in the period from March 1 to April 17, and registered by April 18, where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Its map gives an insight into the neighbourhoods where the Covid-19 outbreak first spread.

Bristol

The hardest-hit Bristol neighbourhoods saw five deaths each. Those were Stoke Bishop, Westbury-on-Trym, Henbury, Brentry and Speedwell.

There were 14 areas of the city where no coronavirus deaths were registered during the period:

  • Lawrence Weston
  • Broom Hill
  • Knowle Park
  • Totterdown
  • Temple Meads
  • Lockleaze
  • Redland and St Andrew’s
  • Clifton Village
  • Henleaze
  • Bristol city centre
  • Fishponds South
  • Hotwells
  • Hartcliffe
  • Bedminster.

South Gloucestershire

In South Gloucestershire, the area with the highest death toll was Cadbury Heath South and North Common, with six.

There were eight neighbourhoods with no registered Covid-19 deaths:

  • Stoke Gifford
  • Bradley Stoke North East
  • Winterbourne
  • Frampton Cotterell
  • Pucklechurch and Westerleigh
  • Yate South
  • Yate North
  • Yate West.

North Somerset

In North Somerset, the areas with the highest death toll, three each, were Portishead Redcliffe and Mid-Worle.

There were 11 neighbourhoods with no registered Covid-19 deaths:

  • Pill and Easton
  • Nailsea East
  • Portishead South
  • Clevedon North and Walton
  • Clevedon South and Yeo
  • Congresbury and Kewstoke
  • South Worle, West Wick and St Georges
  • Weston Winterstoke
  • Weston Bournville
  • Weston Town
  • Weston Clarence.

As of May 23, there have been 226 coronavirus deaths in Bristol hospitals, according to NHS England.
