Broughton Park in Salford has been the neighbourhood hardest hit by coronavirus in Greater Manchester, with the highest number of deaths recorded there.

There were 15 Covid-related deaths recorded in the neighbourhood between March 1 and April 17.

The figures have been published on an interactive map showing how each postcode has been affected by coronavirus.

The neighbourhood with the second highest number of coronavirus-related deaths was Worsley - with 14 recorded there.

There were 13 deaths recorded apiece in Higher Broughton, Little Hulton and Chadderton.

In New Delph, Dobcross and Austerlands and Poynton East there were 11 Covid-related deaths.

In both Lower Irlam and Cadishead and Walkden North West there were 10 deaths in which Covid-19 was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor.

In Castleton and Trub there were nine coronavirus-related deaths.

The interactive map has been plotted using data from the Office for National Statistics.

A total of 27,510 people had died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK.

The figure was up 739 from 26,771 yesterday.
