The neighbourhoods across Greater Manchester hit hardest by coronavirus - enter your postcode to see the latest figures for your area

An interactive map has revealed the areas hit hardest by Covid deaths across our region.

The North West had the highest coronavirus mortality rate of all regions in England in June, figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show.

The most up to date map highlights coronavirus deaths by postcode in England and Wales using ONS data.

The tool reveals area by area deaths in the period March to June where coronavirus was mentioned on a death certificate as a cause.

The size of the circle increases with a higher number of deaths.

Chadderton in Oldham, Leigh East in Wigan and Higher Broughton in Salford have been hardest hit by Covid-19 tragedy in Greater Manchester

There were 31 deaths recorded in each area involving coronavirus over the three month period, the ONS data reveals.

Bredbury Green in Stockport had the fourth highest rate with 27 lives lost to the virus.

Hyde South recorded 26 deaths while Broughton Park in Salford recorded 25.

People can enter their postcode to find figures for their area.

The latest ONS data also breaks down the death rates for each month.

It's been revealed that people in the North West were dying from coronavirus at more than double the rate of those in London in June.

Several towns in the North West, including Rochdale, are being kept under review for potential local lockdowns amid rising cases.

London had the highest death rate (COVID-19) between March and June, however, the North West had the highest rate in June (ONS)

Yet rates in all regions fell sharply compared with May.

There were an estimated 9 deaths involving Covid per 100,000 people in the North West, down from 27.5 in the previous month.

North-east England saw the biggest drop, from 33.5 deaths per 100,000 in May to 7.2 per 100,000 in June.

The South West had the lowest Covid mortality rate in June (2.1).

It has recorded the lowest rate of any region in England during each of the last four months.

In London the rate fell from 16.2 in May to 3.1 in June, having peaked at 94.7 in April.

The figures, from the Office for National Statistics, are based on all deaths where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate and which had been registered by July 11.
