The Nectar Card system has changed - here's everything Sainsbury's shoppers need to know about the revamp

Sainsbury's has rolled out a new Nectar Card scheme to make it easier for customers to boost points.

Card holders currently earn one point for every £1 spent, but the new system aims to provide additional perks on top of points saved.

Major changes are coming to Tesco Clubcard and Nectar card users

Under the new scheme, shoppers will be sent a range of offers which have been tailored to their shopping habits every Friday. These deals have the aim of boosting points, as well as allowing shoppers to earn points for pounds spent.

Card holders will be able to view their personalised offers both on the app and online before saving the deals they're most tempted by pre-shopping trip.

Existing Nectar users will be able to update the app to reap the benefits of the new system, while new users will need to register online or on the app.

The Nectctar scheme isn't exclusively reserved to Sainsbury's, though, as you can collect points in a variety of high-street shops including Topshop, Argos, Debenhams and Next, and redeem points on partners such as Cafe Nero, Eurostar and Argos.

Speaking about the changes to the scheme, James Moir, Managing Director of Nectar said: "We’re delighted to be unveiling a new world of Nectar to our customers, making it easier than ever before for them to get the most out of our hundreds of partners and rewards on offer.

"During the trials in Wales and the Isle of Wight, we listened to what our customers wanted and how they like to receive offers, in an increasingly digitised world.

"This led us to a change in direction for the Nectar scheme, enabling our customers to have a much more personalised experience with offers that are completely unique to them."
