The NCAA should be ashamed of itself for the 9:20 p.m. start time of the title game

The NCAA has done a lot of awful/dumb things over the years, but having the men’s NCAA basketball championship game start at 9:20 p.m. ET (on a Monday, no less) continues to be near the top of that list.

Because as I write this we’re still over an hour from tip off between Virginia and Texas Tech, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Who is this start time good for? Not any kids on the East Coast who will likely see a minute or two of the game before being ordered to bed.

None of the millions of adults on the East Coast who have a job and don’t want to stay up until after 11 p.m. to see who wins the title.

Heck, “One Shining Moment” will probably air around 11:30 p.m. ET. Nobody on the East Coast will be watching.

I’ve stated before the easy fix to this is moving the semifinals to Thursday and the title game on Saturday. Many people disagreed me but who wouldn’t want to end a Saturday with watching a championship game instead of waiting until late Monday night?

This 9:20 p.m. ET stuff is old and needs to be changed. And I’m not even close to being alone with this feeling.
