The NBA rescinded Kevin Durant’s Game 3 technical foul

The technical fouls handed out to Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant and Los Angeles Clippers forward JaMychal Green have been rescinded by the NBA League Office. The technicals were handed out with just over eight minutes left in the third quarter of the Warriors 132-105 Game 3 victory, allowing Golden State to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Durant and Green were whistled after bantering down the court. The call surprised both players, as they were quick to protest the call.

In his post-game press conference, Durant told media that he hoped that the league rescinded the calls as the incident was misunderstood.

Durant cited that the biggest reason for wanting the technical foul rescinded was because he did not want anyone thinking that Green (or anyone else) was in his head.

This technical being taken is big for the Warriors. It would have been Durant’s third of the playoffs in only three games, the first two occurring during his alterations with Patrick Beverley in Game 1. In the playoffs, players get suspended after their seventh technical foul, so Durant dropping back down to two affords him a little more breathing room.
