The NBA is turning its bubble basketball games into one big Zoom meeting for fans

Zoom meetings can be the absolute worst sometimes. We’ve all been through pretty terrible ones at one point or another.

Now, take all of that, and stage them inside a makeshift NBA arena. That’s exactly what the league is actually doing… sort of.

With fans unable to attend the games of their favorite teams in the NBA’s Disney World bubble, the league is allowing 300 fans to “attend” on their virtual board at the arena and watch their favorite teams from their computer screens.

It’s not quite live and in person, but it’s the next best thing I guess? The mock ups of what it’d look like are pretty wild.

This all has the potential to be so awkward. Of course, they have to mute the people so that there aren’t random dogs barking and babies crying in the background while LeBron James is shooting free throws.

But you know how Zoom calls get sometimes. There’s always something awkward that happens on camera. Now, imagine that in front of a national audience during an NBA basketball game.

Think of the possibilities! We’re about to get so many memes from this. It’s going to be incredible.
